Course Pathway Information
Every course at FHS builds toward the same goal: giving students the skills and credits they need to graduate ready for whatever comes next. Below, you'll find the traditional coursework pathway by grade level, along with a closer look at what's taught in each subject area.
FHS science brings real-world application directly into the classroom, giving students the chance to think and work like actual scientists rather than just reading about science from a textbook. Through hands-on exploration in the CIDDI Lab (Create, Innovate, Design, Develop Ideas) and the STEM lab, students investigate both physical and life sciences using scientific inquiry, experimentation, and problem-solving skills that carry over into any career path. Whether dissecting how the human body works, analyzing chemical reactions, or applying forensic science techniques to solve a mystery, students build a foundation in scientific thinking that prepares them for college coursework, technical careers, and everyday critical thinking alike.

FHS mathematics builds students from foundational number sense all the way through advanced problem-solving, preparing them not just for graduation requirements but for whatever comes after high school, whether that's college coursework, a technical career, or everyday financial decision-making. Students progress through a structured pathway that strengthens core skills like operations, fractions, and algebraic thinking before advancing into more complex concepts such as functions, quadratics, and geometric reasoning. Along the way, students learn to approach problems logically, break down complex information, and apply mathematical reasoning to real-world situations, skills that matter far beyond the classroom.
We offer the following courses:
Math That Matters Builds foundational math skills including number sense, operations, fractions, decimals, ratios, and introductory algebraic thinking to prepare students for Algebra I.
Algebra I Introduces fundamental algebraic concepts such as linear equations, inequalities, functions, and problem-solving strategies essential for higher-level mathematics.
Geometry Focuses on geometric relationships including angles, triangles, polygons, circles, and proofs, emphasizing logical reasoning and spatial understanding.
Algebra II Expands on algebraic concepts with a focus on quadratic functions, polynomials, exponential relationships, and advanced problem-solving for college and career pathways.
FHS social studies helps students make sense of the world around them, both how it came to be and how it continues to shape their lives today. Students explore pivotal moments, movements, and turning points across world and American history, examining the forces that have driven change and conflict throughout time. Along the way, students build the skills to think critically about cause and effect, evaluate different perspectives, and understand the structures of government and citizenship that shape everyday life. This foundation prepares students not just to understand the past, but to engage thoughtfully with the world as informed, responsible citizens.

American History Integrates U.S. history, civics, and cultural studies to explore key events, movements, and ideas that have shaped American society.
U.S. Government Examines the structure and function of federal, state, and local governments, with an emphasis on citizenship, civic responsibility, and constitutional principles.
Modern World History Explores major world events, movements, and turning points from the 1600s to the present, examining how revolutions, empires, wars, and cultural shifts have shaped the modern global landscape. Students analyze cause and effect across regions and time periods, building the historical context needed to understand today's world and their place in it.
